Dispute at IoM ends after 6-point pact
IoM officials and its faculty members agree to open discussion on the dean appointment criteria set by Dr Ramesh Kanta Adhikari-led panel
Dec 27, 2016-The long running dispute at the Institute of Medicine (IoM) that had begun since the appointment of Dr Jagdish Prasad Agrawal as the dean of the institute ended on Monday after professors reached a six-point agreement.
Some of the professors and faculty members had opposed the ouster of Dr KP Singh as the dean and appointment of Dr Agrawal to the post following a hunger strike by Dr Govinda KC. All the academic programmes at the institute had been shut as the faculty members went on strike. The agitated faculties had then padlocked the Dean’s Office, forcing Dr Agrawal to work from a different location.
