Nature and wildlife photographs exhibited
The eighth National Nature and Wildlife Photography Exhibition, organised by the Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN), was held at Kathmandu Durbar Square, Basantapur, on December 26.The eighth National Nature and Wildlife Photography Exhibition, organised by the Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN), was held at Kathmandu Durbar Square, Basantapur, on December 26. The exhibition, a culmination of WCN’s eighth National Nature and Wildlife Photography Competition announced in June, had more than 500 photographs on nature and wildlife, shot by a total of 104 photographers.
The photos featured were compiled under a variety of categories—including Flora, Fauna, Macro, Human Interaction with Nature, and Landscape. The featured photographs were judged by an adjudication panel comprising eminent photographers Mani Lama, Raj Bhai Suwal, Nripa D Khadka and Sunil Sharma.
The title prize of the competition was awarded to Ayush Man Kayastha while the award for Flora, Fauna, Macro and Landscape categories were awarded to Rameshwar Maharjan, Sanjay Maharjan, Shreemila Bajracharya and Prakash Budha, respectively. Photographers Chandra Man Dangol, Nikita Shrestha Shakya, Ayush Man Kayastha, Santosh Raj Pathak, and Umid Ratna Shakya were among top ten winners under Human Interaction with Nature category.
Also honoured at the event was Durga Bahadur Kunwar, a floriculturist who has been in the field for four decades, for his contribution to nature conservation.
