Colors P85+

Price: Rs 12,995

While the original P85 was a subpar phone at best, the revamped P85+ is a phone worth considering the upcoming year. Released a few months ago, the phone comes with improved internals as well as great photography performance. The Nepali company has been touting the P85+ was a phone for photographers and it does not fail to deliver stellar picture quality with an 8MP front-camera with a dedicated flash and a 13 MP rear-camera with three tone flash. Considering all of the features that Colors has added for smartphone photographers, the Colors P85+ is a great phone to consider if you’re going to be taking a lot of pictures with the device.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Price: 88,900

If you want the best of the best, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is the way to go. This device is an absolute beast which maxes out all benchmark scores and even comes with the eye-catching curved display. While I am not a fan of the curved display because of the fact that it doesn’t add to the over-all functionality of the device, there are many users out there who would love to own a device that turns heads. If you don’t care about the curved display, go for the Galaxy S7 that performs identically to the S7 Edge, just without the flair of a curved display. But either phone from Samsung is a beast in performance, looks amazing and comes with all of Samsung’s software features. The only downside of the device would be the heavy price-tag but if you want the best of the best, you’d better be ready to pay for it.

SonyXperia XA

Price: Rs 34,499

The Sony Xperia XA is a great phone for people looking for a mid-ranged option. The phone comes with many modern features like curved edge-to-edge display and a MediaTekHelio P10 processor with 2GB of internal RAM. While MediaTek might not be as trusted as Qualcomm processors, the P10 is a powerhouse that easily beats Qualcomm’s mid-ranged Snapdragon 615 processor. The edge-to-edge display makes the phone look like it’s almost bezel-less and the full metal construction of the phone also adds to the overall appeal of the device. The aesthetical appeal of the phone makes the Sony Xperia XA a mid-ranged phone to look out for.

Price: Rs 59,999

Huawei’s flagship of 2016 is a marvel to behold. It looks great, performs like a champion and the Leica Dual-Camera setup at the back adds to the overall appeal of the phone. But while the phone is priced cheaper than flagships from other manufacturers, the price is still a bit steep; but the expensiveness of the phone is backed by the astounding camera at the back. Huawei’s partnership with the 100 year old photography company Leica has worked wonders for the phone because photos taken with the phone feel richer and more vibrant than photos from other phones. This is because one of the two cameras shoots only in black and white which means that any photo taken with the P9 will feature a much wider dynamic range. Frankly, the main selling point of the P9 is the camera and it’s an amazing camera if you shoot lots of pictures with your phone.

Xiaomi Mi5

Price:Rs 44,999

Apart from OnePlus, Xiaomi is another Chinese smartphone manufacturer who has managed to turn heads worldwide. The Mi phones have always sold like hot cakes and while the initial rush for the Mi devices have ended, the company is still producing devices that offer an exceptional price to performance ratio. Much like devices from OnePlus, Xiaomi’s Mi5 also comes with powerful internal and robust external specifications as well. The phone is made out of aluminium and has glass panels on both sides and both panels are protected with Gorilla Glass 4. The Mi5 is a fully-equipped phone with everything that you would expect from a flagship device and with the cool MIUI skinned OS inside, the Mi5 offers an experience unlike any other Android phone.

OnePlus 3

Price: Rs 49,900

A comprehensive article on the different phones of 2016 would not be complete without a One Plus device on it. The Chinese manufacture has managed to awe the world with their high-performing, good-looking and budget smartphones. While the OnePlus 3 can easily go head-to-head with both the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and the iPhone 7, it comes at a much lower price-point. The phone not only performs well but is also look good and durable thanks to the uni-body aluminium design. OnePlus has always amazed users with their ‘flagship killer’ phones that cost almost half of flagships by other manufactures and with the OnePlus 3, OnePlus has managed to wow us in 2016 as well.
