In a meeting with the LLRC officials, the PM said he would first consult with the parties before receiving the report.
The Madhesi parties and a faction of the ruling Nepali Congress are against the LLRC report, which was prepared amid serious reservations from the regional parties. LLRC Chairman Balananda Poudel said his team briefed the PM on the report. “He assured us of receiving the report but didn’t specify the time,” Poudel said.
Article 303 of the constitution says the present set-up of the local bodies will cease to exist after the LLRC submits its report to the government.
