According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prahlad Adhikari, head constable duo Karna Bahadur Pun and Mohan Shrestha were injured in the incident.
The gunman had reportedly shot at Pun and Shrestha from across the border.
DSP Adhikari said he contacted his Indian counterpart after the incident to ask for support to search the suspect who could still be hiding in the area.
A security team from Nepal also visited the bordering Indian town of Badhani and met with the officials of the Indian border security force, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
The SSB assured to launch a manhunt to find the suspect, said a security personnel who was present at the meeting.
Security has been heightened at both Nepali and Indian border areas in the wake of the incident.
