2 dead, 50 hurt in bus crash

A bus carrying picnickers plunged off a bridge over the Dudhaura stream along Pathalaiya-Nijgadh road stretch in Bara district on Sunday night, killing two persons.  More than 50 others were injured. 

The bus (Na 3 Kha 7668) was returning to Parwanipur of Sarlahi district from Martyr Memorial Park at Hetauda in Makwanpur district. 

The students of Parwanipur-based Dim Higher Secondary School had reserved the bus for the New Year’s picnic. 

Rabin Bajyu, 15, of Parwanipur-1 and Sandesh Basnet, 20, of Parwanipur-5 died in the accident. Their bodies were taken to Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj for postmortem, according to police. 

Police said the injured passengers were receiving treatment at Tarai Hospital in Simara and Gandak Hospital in Birgunj.

4 Nepalis among 6 dead in India jeep accident

BAITADI: A jeep accident in the Indian state of Uttarakhand on Sunday killed six people, including four Nepalis. The deceased Nepalis were the members of a same family from Sharmali VDC in Baitadi. They were identified as Govinda Saud, his brother Basudev,  sister-in-law Gomati Devi, and five-year-old nephew Aayush. They were travelling to their ancestral home in Doti when the jeep crashed.
