Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat will be launching the mobile app at a function to be organised on the department premises.
The DoP has successfully tested the Nepal Passport app. Service seekers can install the app, download the application form and fill out the personal details before submission.
Once submitted, the app will generate a barcode which service seekers can take with them while visiting the department for final processing of the application.
After receiving the barcode, applicants can take an appointment through
the app for clicking photos, to pay the bill or to collect the passport.
At present, service seekers cannot pay the passport fees online. “We are going to introduce such services in the near future,” said an official.
