The exhibit was inaugurated by artist and scholar Krishna Manandhar amid a function held on Tuesday.
Settlement Part-2 is artist Tamang’s fourth solo exhibit. The exhibit features abstract paintings, of local Nepali settlements, in acrylic. According to artist Tamang, the paintings are loosely based on the quakes and the transformation they brought about to local settlements.
“The world around us, the settlements or the dwellings, from multiple points of views and perspectives, when entangles with mind, a vast array of facts and truths stimulates our psyche, spontaneously,” Tamang mentioned in his artistic statement.
“The rigid and linear concepts of time gone by seemed like they would lead to the inception point and inspired these depictions in an automated way.
Like miracles, curtains were torn all over the space, revealing the chaos and tragedy. The hope of new beginning, all together, trying to synchronise with time in a harmony carrying diverse hues of inner feelings and imaginations became the source of inspiration for me.
The exhibit will run through Jan 17
