First Nepali feature film made on the indigenous Yakkha language was premiered amid a function held in Dharan earlier this week. The film revolves around the culture and tradition of the Yakkha tribe.
Written by Maagman Linkha, the film was shot around the Tamafok region in Sankhuwasabha, where majority of Yakkha people are based. Hailing the film’s effort to preserve and promote the endangered Yakkha tradition, the Film Development Board recently honoured the film with an award.
The film is currently being screened at the ongoing International Film Festival in Dharan; and according to Ajay Jimi, next up, the film will be screened in Sankuwasabha and Dhankuta.
Directed by Arun Pradhan, Omla features actors Ajaya Jimi, Sagar Singal, Manoj Shakya and Sirjana Ninglekhu in lead roles.
