Ex-king Shah among invitees
- prez daughter’s wedding
Jan 16, 2017-
Besides top leaders of major political parties, former king Gyanendra Shah has been invited to the wedding reception of Nisha Kusum Bhandari, the elder daughter of President Bidhya Devi Bhandari. Nisha is getting married to Avisekh Yadav, grandson of former president Ram Baran Yadav, at the President’s Office on Monday.
Shah has agreed to attend the function at noon to wish the bride and bride-groom, said sources at the President’s Office. If Shah attends the event, it will be his first entry to the President Office where he is likely to come face to face with top leaders of the major parties since leaving the Narayanhiti Palace in 2008.
It will be a simple ceremony where only 51 guests will attend the marriage procession, said one official. A provision under the Social Reform Act bans to bring over 51 people as marriage-processor.
All the invitees on behalf of President Bhandari have been advised not to bring any cash or kind for the marriage, the official added.
Bhandari and Yadav, who have known each other from their school days, were engagement two months ago.
