Two poll-related laws delayed

The subcommittee can now finalise the Bill to Amend and Integrate Laws Related to Political Parties and the Bill on Local Election Procedure Act by January 31. There are differences among the political parties over the bills.
The election body had demanded all the five bills by January 28 in order to hold the local polls by mid-June.
A meeting of the State Affairs Committee extended the sub-panel’s deadline as it demanded two working days to find consensus on provision of the two bills. SAC Chairman Dil Bahadur Gharti said the bills would be ready by the extended deadline.
