An inspection team to probe the illegal logging of pinewood at Malika Community Forest in Pipalkande, Siddhababa Community Forest in Thali and Masani Community Forest in Naku has seized pine logs and documents from the Area Forest Office in Budar, Doti.
Two accused forest employees have been summoned to the District Forest Office (DFO) for an enquiry, Officiating Chief District Officer Shankar Bista said. Around 11,000 cubic feet of pine wood was found at the three community forests.
According to villagers, smugglers felled many pine trees over the past month. The pine logs recovered from Tudepani, Jagenakhola, Rakastal and Kope areas have been handed over to the concerned community forests.
