Govt set to brief diplomats today

Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat and Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi will apprise the international community of the latest political developments including the government’s bid to hold the elections, the status of constitution implementation and talks with the agitating Madhesi Morcha.
This would be the first briefing by the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government to the international community after its formation in August last year.
Other matters related to the government’s foreign policy, activities and the tasks undertaken by the government, status of the transitional justice mechanism and ongoing efforts on post-earthquake reconstruction would also be discussed at the forum, according to officials. The briefing would be followed by a question-answer session with the diplomats.
Foreign Minister Mahat said the concerns of the diplomatic community would also be heard.
