Property worth Rs 32m destroyed in fire
A fire which broke out at Nayabasti of Kuleshwor in the Capital on Sunday evening has destroyed property worth more than Rs3o million, according to police.A fire which broke out at Nayabasti of Kuleshwor in the Capital on Sunday evening has destroyed property worth more than Rs3o million, according to police.
“Based on victims’ complaints, we have calculated around Rs32.2 million in loss of property,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari of Kalimati Circle, adding that an investigation was on going into the incident.
Around a dozen people have lodged complaints over loss of property at the circle.
The fire which was sparked by a short circuit at local Gautam Store near Nabil Bank branch, and quickly spread onto nearly houses and shops. Two warehouses, three small hotels, two furnishing shops, two cosmetic shops, two tailor shops and a guest house were destroyed in the blaze.
There were no reports of human casualties. It took more than an hour for teams of fire fighters from Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur to douse the massive fire.
