Lucrative Dhangadi Premier League gets more support

DPL is a city-based Twenty20 cricket tournament which is set to begin from March 19 to April 1 in Dhangadi. The tournament will be participated in by six teams including CYC Attariya, Biratnagar Kings, Kathmandu Goldens, Rupandehi Challengers and Kanchanpur Iconics.
Amidst a programme in Kathmandu on Tuesday, DCA Chairman and SPA Academy Director Subash Bahadur Shahi signed an agreement with Jag Shakti Managing Director Udaya Prakash Mishra. The agreement will see Jag Shakti, a product of Jagdamba Enterprises Pvt Ltd, provide a cash of Rs 700,000 to DPL organisers.
Following the agreement the tournament will now be called Sagarmatha Cement DPL Powered by Jag Shakti Steels. Shahi was delighted that his concept was now associated with another corporate company. “It really feels great to see more corporate houses coming in for DPL. We are privileged that the tournament is able to attract more business houses,” said Shahi.
Mishra said the association with DPL was important. “We are happy to contribute to one of the biggest cricket events because it was important too. This will definitely motivate sports sector along with the private sector to come and contribute to the development of the game,” said Mishra.
The organisers also signed DishHome Media Network Pvt Ltd as its broadcast partner. The agreement will see Dish Sports, a channel of DishHome, broadcast all the matches of the tournament live. Shahi and DishHome Vice-president Kalyan Adhikari signed the agreement.
“DishHome has move ahead in its concept of making sports more professional through the launching of its channel. The association with DPL is all about going a step ahead,” said Adhikari.
DPL is the highest cash-prized cricket tournament in Nepali cricket history
offering a cash purse of Rs 1.5 million. The runners-up will get Rs 700,000. Through the DPL, Nepali cricket also saw its first ever auction of cricketers at a national level where four players were bought for up to the maximum bidding amount of Rs 100,000.
