Feb 1, 2017-

A violent clash erupted between supporters of the Nepal Student Union (NSU) and the All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU) at a hostel of Lamjung Campus in Sundar Bazaar on Monday night.

A student was injured while properties belonging to the campus and students were vandalised in the incident. The clash ensued between the two factions over the issue of upcoming Free Student Union election after they consumed alcohol on the campus premises, said police.

The campus administration and police settled the dispute following the clash between the hostel students at around 9pm. However, the situation took a nasty turn as some students, who have been staying outside, entered the hostel and resorted to vandalism.

Doors, windows and furniture of the hostel along with some laptops were vandalised in the incident, according to DSP Samir Chandra Kharel. The security personnel arrested 10 students for their alleged involvement in the incident.

Mahendra Singh Dhami, a BSc student in the campus, sustained injuries in the clash. He is receiving treatment at Karmada Hospital. (PR)
