Bom gets ‘Best Entrepreneur Award’

Janaki Devi Bom has been awarded with the “Best Entrepreneur Award” at ex-Army Summit held by Nepal Army Welfare Board in Dhangadhi on Thursday. The award was conferred jointly by Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chettri and Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL) CEO Jyoti Prakash Pandey. Bom had borrowed a microfinance loan from the bank for poultry business and created an example for others as well. As a deprived sector lending initiative, NIBL together with Nepal Army Welfare Board has been extending microfinance loans with an aim to upgrade the living standard of and create self-employment opportunities for retired and in-service Nepal Army staff. During the function, best three entrepreneurs were handed cheques of Rs700,000 each for maintaining a sound repayment history. Also, six cheques were handed to ex-army personnel and family members of in-service Army staff. Moreover, three branchless banking points were established at Dadeldhura, Baitadi and Darchula. (PR)
