A mobile theatre event for school students drew to a close on Monday at the Pragya Kunja School in the Capital. The four-day festival saw a total of four plays by various student-artists.
The first day of the fest saw the fifth-graders put together a play titled Pahenlo Bus that told the story of a child worker. Similarly, the second day of the fest saw staging of the drama Ujyalotira, enacted by student-actors of the fourth-grade. The play revolves around the upbringing of Siddhartha Gautam; while the third day saw third-graders enact the play Bhola.
The fest drew to a close with the staging of the play Beauty is a Beast.
All the plays were written and directed by Tanka Chaulagain, who also was the artistic director of the fest.
Speaking about the event, Sunita Poudel, principal of the school, said, “The fest, a part of our extra-curricular activities, is an attempt to teach students practically; since we have included drama in our curriculum as well, it gives a great platform for a different way of learning and helps put the spotlight on budding actors.”
