Raxaul-Parwanipur power line nears completion
The much touted 132-KV Raxaul-Parwanipur electricity transmission line is scheduled to go online within the next two weeks. The much touted 132-KV Raxaul-Parwanipur electricity transmission line is scheduled to go online within the next two weeks.
Only a few technical works, including test transmission, are remaining for the 12km transmission to complete, according to BC Pradhan, consul general at Consulate General of India, Birgunj.
“The project has to connect electric wires at one transmission tower in Parwanipur and it will be done within a couple of days,” Pradhan said. “Currently, a technical team has reached the substation at Raxul where it will complete test with 4 to 5 days. The same team will then come to the substation at Parwanipur for another test.”
After completing the test at Parwanipur substation, the transmission line will be ready for operation.
Earlier, the construction was delayed due to obstruction by locals of Raxul and Bara over land compensation rate. However, there is no such obstruction now and the project will be completed on time, Pradhan added.
India’s Mohan Energy is undertaking the construction of the project being developed by the Indian government.
It is said that energy crisis in Bara district will be solved after the transmission line comes online.
After the completion of this project, 50MW electricity can be immediately imported via Raxul. The construction of the transmission was initiated considering high power demand along the Bara-Parsa industrial corridor.
Industrialists, who have long been demanding for early completion of this transmission, are delighted with the latest news. “This line would be a great relief for industries facing acute power shortage for decades,” said Hari Gautam, a local industrialist.
