A day after winning his 33rd tour title, Shiva Ram Shrestha and his team won the Surya Nepal Western Open Pro-Am title at the par-70 Himalayan Golf Course in Pokhara on Saturday.

Teaming up with amateurs Prakash Gurung, Prakash Ban and Basant Gauchan, Shrestha’s team accumulated 163 points to win the trophy. While Shrestha scored 39 points, Gurung collected 42 with Ban and Gauchan scoring 41 each.

The team of pro Dhana Bahadur Thapa (39) and amateurs Roshan BK (38), Gyan Kaji Gurung (38) and Jay Nugent (38) were a distant second with 153 points. Pro Surya Prasad Sharma (36) and amateurs Vivek Sen Gurung (38), Arun Dev Acharya (37) and Sanjeev Tiwari (36) finished third with 147 points.

Prakash Gurung also bagged the best individual score award with 42 points. Pratima Shrestha swept the best female score award with 34 points. A total of 68 players, including 17 pros, took part in the Pro-Am event played under stableford full handicap format. The 54-hole Surya Nepal Western Open ended on Friday with Shrestha winning the title with record breaking score of nine-under par.

Nepal Professional Golfers Association President Rabindra Man Shrestha, Nepal Golf Association President Madhukar Yakthumba, Gokarna Golf Club President Suhrid Ghimire and Kaski District Golf Association President Maj. Lacchim Prasad Gurung gave away the prizes to the winners.
