Organisers extend deadline by two days

The Kantipur Publications Pvt Ltd, organisers of the Kantipur Hero Half Marathon, on Sunday extended the deadline for athletes’ registration by two days.
The original deadline for athletes’ registration expired on Sunday but the organisers gave in to requests from interested runners, especially from those who hail from outside the Kathmandu Valley, to keep it open until 6:00PM on Tuesday. “We have been receiving numerous requests for deadline extension so that athletes from outside Kathmandu can make it in time to register their names,” said the Publications, who organizes the race to mark its anniversary on February 18
The event features men’s and women’s half marathon, corporate-media and wheelchair races. The half marathon winners will ride home a Hero Dash Scooter apart from cash award of Rs 50,000 in both the categories. The first and second runners-up will get Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Cash prizes are also on offer for runners who round up inside the top six in half marathon.
The top three winners in the wheel chair 3km race will get Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000, while the winners in the corporate-media 5km race will get a return ticket to Dubai or Singapore. The race starts from the Publications’ office at the Central Business Park in Thapathali en route to Maitighar, Babarmahal, Bijuli Bazaar, New Baneshwor, Tinkune, Koteshwor, Jadibuti, Gatthaghar, Sano Thimi, Sallaghari, Katunje before heading back from the same route.
The change of route meant the organisers scrapped the award set for runners making new course record. Gopi Chandra Parki of Nepal Armed Police Force Club and Reshu Basnet of Tribhuvan Army Club are the defending champions in half marathon.
