Ekatma, an anthology of poetry featuring works of eight upcoming poets, was launched amid an event held at Theatre Mall, on Saturday. Published by Samyam Kinara and Nepal Books, Ekatma was unveiled jointly by director Rajan Khatiwada, poet Keshab Sigdel and critic Saguna Shah.

The collection features works of eight previously-unpublished poets, namely, Ujjwal Dhungana, Kushal Suman, Bishnu Sanyas, Buddhi Kattel, Nabin Abhilasi, Patharkya Hridaya, Shijan Shrestha and Prasanna Ghimire.

The launch was followed by a discussion about the book. Speaking at the event, poet Anup Joshi said, “Although most of the poets featured in the book are new, the poems are eloquent and reflect the poets’ thoughts in a very efficient way.”

Meanwhile, co-founder of the online book discussion page Bookaholics, Saguna Shah, said, “The poems in the book are different from most of the works today: they echo hope and happiness contrary to despair that most of the other poets working today depict.”

The featured poets also recited their poems at the event.
