Shrestha and Pokhrel succeed Durja Kumar Rai and Upendra Kant Aryal respectively who retired on Tuesday.
According to a Home Ministry statement, Nidhi also instructed the police chiefs to focus on security of bordering areas and internal security and asked them to pay special attention to smuggling of gold and narcotic drugs. Nidhi also instructed Home Secretary Regmi to table the bills related to Citizenship and Disaster Management as early as possible and to conclude the process of withdrawing cases as per an understanding reached with the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha.
