Parsa
Authorities have seized nearly 200 cubic feet of illegal logs in Parsa since mid-January.
But they have failed to arrest even a single person involved. Police Inspector Mahesh Basnet at Paterwa Area Police Office said timber smugglers have been found burying illegal logs and retrieving them at their convenience.
They are also tipped about police raids, so it is hard to identify them, he added. Police suspect that illegal logging and wood trafficking in Parsa forests are taking place in collusion with locals. (PR)
