Addressing a religious programme organised by the Kirat Hangsam Samyok Manghim at Chulachuli-2 in Ilam district on Friday, the president of the largest party in Parliament urged the political parties to move forward by endorsing the amendment bill. He underscored the need for passing the amendments in order to create an environment conducive to holding the polls, which is part of implementing the constitution.
Deuba said the country would take a giant leap forward after the elections, adding that it was everyone’s responsibility to make the local level polls scheduled for May 14 a success.
“After a gap of two decades, you’ve got the opportunity to choose your representatives. Use this opportunity,” he told the people.
Deuba remarked that the proposed constitutional amendments would cement the link between the Madhes and the Hills. It would also provide more rights to women, Madhesis, and the indigenous people.
