NA puts on a razzle-dazzle show on Army Day

President Bhandari laid a wreath at the military memorial, Bir Smarak, at the Army Pavilion and paid tributes to the soldiers on the special day. She also launched ‘Sipahi’, the special annual journal published by the Nepal Army Directorate of
Public Relations.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Speaker Onasari Gharti were also present in the event that saw the NA soldiers displaying various feats, athleticism, parade and counter-terror drill. The NA soldiers also fired celebratory gunfire and cannon blasts.
Chief of the Army Staff, Rajendra Chhetri presented trophies to the Shreejung Battalion and the Birbhadrajung Company which were adjudged first and second in the nature conservation task. General Chhetri also handed the Chief of the Army Staff Trophy to the NA Central Division for coming first in the Chief of the Army Staff Trophy Sports Competition.
Likewise, the Army banner was presented to the Durgabaks Battalion on the occasion.
Also attending the function were the Defence Minister Bal Krishna Khand, government ministers, high-ranking civil servants, chiefs of the security bodies, and the heads and representatives of the diplomatic missions.
The Army Day was closed off with a brilliant display of fireworks.
