Secretary Ganga Bahadur Magar issued a circular, directing the campuses to make changes to the election schedule without altering the polling day.
According to reports in the Capital and from outside, student unions affiliated to various political parties have been vandalising, and setting fire to, campus property.
The circular directs the colleges to complete the electoral processes scheduled earlier for February 25 and 26 by 10am on February 26 and 27. Campuses where the timetable was disrupted from the start should also follow it, directs the committee.
Secretary Magar said that only 22 of the 60 campuses had registered their candidates for the elections due to padlocking and obstruction by disgruntled student unions. Magar said talks were being held with student unions, TU officials and campus authorities for lifting the obstruction.
