Lack of fund slows over 100 projects
Feb 28, 2017-
More than 100 projects, under Reconstruction and Reestablishment Programme of the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, in Jajarkot have been left incomplete due to lack of budget.
Kalika Community Building at Paink, Tribhuvan Secondary School at Khalanga, Tharpu Secondary School at Dhime and Chandra Deepak Secondary School at Jungathapchaur are among the projects whose progress has suffered as the ministry has not been releasing sufficient funds. Most of the projects are at least three years old and nowhere near complete. The government has allocated Rs 20 million for the projects this fiscal year.
Surya Bahadur Shahi, the engineer at the District Development Committee, said such parsimonious funding was not going to complete the projects anytime soon. It would take at least a decade, he said, adding that an estimated Rs 250 million is required to complete the projects.
District Education Officer Lalit Bikram Singh said construction of 40 school buildings in the district had not progressed in a long time.
The students have been affected as they do not have proper classrooms to learn, he added.
