Railways India defended the Prime Minister Cup Women’s Volleyball Championship with straight sets win over Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club on Wednesday.
In what was a rematch of last year’s title showdown, Railways beat APF club 27-25, 25-17, 25-22 in the final for the second year in succession. The Indian team received Rs 1,11,000 while APF collected Rs 55,000.
Nepal Police Club beat Tribhuvan Army Club 25-18, 20-25, 25-15, 25-23 in the third place decider. NPC walked away with Rs 35,000 for their efforts.
Anushree Ghosh of the Railways won the best player of the tournament award which also earned her Rs 10,000. Saraswoti Chaudhary was named the best spiker, Usha Bista the best blocker and Nebica Chaudhary the best server. All three are from APF.
The Railways duo Richu Mary and Pirosmita Bapri were adjudged the best setter and defender respectively. In all six teams had participated in the tournament.
