Eastern Regional Linguistics Seminar, organised by the Nepal Academy to mark its diamond jubilee, concluded in Biratnagar on Friday. Focusing on the current literary trends in the country, trends in criticism, and mother-tongues, the event saw scholars present papers in their respective fields.
During the event, Ramji Prasad Timilasina presented a dissertation on the current trend of criticism for Nepali language and linguistics.
Timalsina’s presentation compared the current trend of criticism, popular around the world, with Nepal.
The event also saw discussions among scholars Shrawan Mukarung, Bishnu Bibhu Ghimire, Khem Nepali, and Bibash Pokharel, among others.
Moreover, the Academy also organised a poetry fest at the same venue on Friday, featuring poets Leela Anmol, Jibika Khatiwada, Pravin Narayan Chaudhary, Prahlad Tajpuriya, and Sarita Tuladhar. The poets recited their work in their own mother-tongues.
Speaking at the fest Bishnu Bibhu Ghimire said he will leave no stone unturned in honouring the work of those of who have contributed to Nepali language and literature.
Ghimire also informed that the works of poetry recited at the fest will be collected in an anthology.
