The distribution process of second tranche of housing reconstruction aid has started in Kavre district.
According to district coordination committee of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), the aid distribution process has begun from Rabiopi VDC.
Chief District Officer (CDO) Shiva Prasad Simkhada said 10 earthquake survivors from Rabiopi-4 received Rs 150,000 each as the second instalment of the housing aid on Friday. He added that only those people who have constructed the foundation of their new homes as per the building safety guidelines would qualify for the second batch of aid.
Only 40 households in Rabiopi have filed applications for the second tranche of the housing aid, though 930 families had signed the reconstruction aid agreement with the NRA last year.
Throughout Kavre, CDO Simkhada said, around 4,000 people have filed applications at the NRA district coordination office, seeking second sum of the housing aid.
The District Development Committee (DDC) has about Rs 996 million of the aid money unused in its coffer due to distribution delay.
Makwanpur victims demand aid
HETAUDA: The earthquake displaced people in Makwanpur have complained that they have been deprived of second tranche of the housing reconstruction aid, despite their repeated requests to the NRA. Fifty people from Namatar and Budhichaur visited the DDC office on Thursday and demanded to provide them second tranche immediately. They said they were compelled to leave their under construction house incomplete due to the lack of budget. According to lawmaker Ananta Poudel, the quake victims could not receive the amount due to the lengthy procedure of the NRA and negligence of the technicians deployed to the quake-affected villages.
