Snowfalls followed by rains since Thursday continued to affect normal life in Karnali region on Sunday as well.

Cold and snow have affected the movements of people. The lack of sunlight in the region for the past four days has not helped the situation.

Flights have come to a halt at Jumla Airport for the past five days, affecting hundreds of passengers. Long distance vehicles have not plied the road and the local transports are struggling to find passengers.

Many factories and industries in the region are also shut because of inclement weather. Government and non-governmental offices, meanwhile, have witnessed a significant drop in the number of service seekers.

AP Chaurasiya, chief of the Climate Field Office in Jumla, said the weather condition was likely to persist for a few more days.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature of Jumla was 7.8 degrees Celsius with 97 millilitres rainfall.

The temperature on Sunday morning was measured at -2.5 degrees Celsius.

Khalanga, the district headquarters of Jumla, received 20.2 centimetres of snowfalls on Sunday.

According to Chaurasiya, the upper region of Jumla, Kalikot and Mugu districts received up to four feets of snow.
