One missing, another injured in Dolpa avalanche

According to District Police Office Dolpa, Gyaljing Gurung of Chharka in Tangsong village council went missing, while Pema Kunjak Gurung of the same place was seriously injured in the avalanche on Saturday. The victims came under the avalanche while they were going to their animal sheds in Chormara Lek.
The incident came to light late as the area had remained out of contact for the past few days following heavy snowfall in Dolpa and other districts in Karnali region. Pema, who was rescued by police on Tuesday, is receiving treatment at the District Hospital.
Similarly, another avalanche at Okta in Mutkechula village council swept away eight horses and mules on Saturday. Bilabhadra Rokaya of Okta said the mobile phone service had also been disrupted in the area due to the snowfall.
Gamgadhi-Nagma road still obstructed
About three dozen vehicles have been stranded in various places along the Gamgadhi-Nagma road section after last week’s snowfall in the area. Transportation was disrupted in Ghuchchilek, Gothijyula, Nagma, among other places, as snow piled up along the road. According to locals, rainfall combined with low temperature dumped about two feet of snow in Ghuchchilek area last week.
