Bajaj’s Dominar hits Nepal

- Post Report, Kathmandu
Priced at an irresistible Rs 469,900, the new Dominar 400 promises an experience like no other motorcycle found in Nepal at that price point

Mar 20, 2017-There’s a beast loose on the streets of Nepal and it is none other than the all new Bajaj Dominar 400. It has taken a while for the sports cruiser to make its way over from India, but it was worth the wait.

Priced at an irresistible Rs 469,900, the new Dominar 400 promises an experience like no other motorcycle found in Nepal at that price point. The price to performance ratio is off the charts and the sole distributor of Bajaj motorcycle, Hansraj Hulaschand Co. Pvt. Ltd, is more than happy to introduce the beast to Nepali people looking for a unique motorcycle.

In every motorcycle, it is the engine that functions as the heart and gives each motorcycle its own soul. The Dominar 400 is powered by an impressive 373.33cc triple spark DTS-I engine that churns out a massive 35 PS @ 8000 rpm and a head-snapping torque of 35NM @ 6500 rpm. To harness the pure power that lies within the Dominar 400, the combination of a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch, along with modern chassis engineering, is used.

This allows the Dominar 400 to reach a top speed of 148 KMPH though you might have difficulty achieving that kind of speeds on the rapidly deteriorating roads of Kathmandu. No matter, you can be assured that your new Dominar 400 will be the fastest motorcycle off a red light, accelerating from 0-100 kmph in just 8.23 seconds. If you spot a pothole and need to decelerate at the drop of a dime, the motorcycle has more than enough breaking power, with discs breaks on the front (320mm) and back (230mm) plus dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System). Feeling the pain of going over a pot hole will be a thing of the past with the cushion like characteristics of the Dominar 400, which is equipped with 43mm telescopic forks at the front and a multi-step adjustable mono shock at the rear.

The motorcycle has 110/70 section tyres and 150/60 section tyres at the rear mated to 17-inch alloy wheels, resulting in excellent road stability. Did you know that the Dominar 400 weighs in at a respectable 182 kgs? With features like full LED headlamps and Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) coupled with a massive perimeter frame and a gorgeous contoured pressed-steel swing arm, it’s no surprise that the motorcycle weighs that much.

Long rides will be comfortable on the Dominar 400 with its advanced liquid cooling system ensuring that the engine performance remains smooth even when pushed hard for a long time. Not that you will get very far on the puny 13 liter tank. The term “sports cruiser” is apt for this motorcycle.

Bajaj has truly made a gem of a motorcycle and the Dominar 400 is quite simply, the most advanced motorcycle made by the company.
