The Election Commission has defended its move of striking down parts of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s statute saying that the decision was in line with constitutional and legal provisions. At a press conference on Sunday, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav said the constitutional body removed the provision related to Hindu state and monarchy as the country’s constitution has already adopted secularism and republicanism.
