Madhesi Morcha boycotts Parliament meeting
Mar 20, 2017- The agitating Madhesi Morcha boycotted Sunday’s meeting of the Legislature-Parliament as well, saying that its demand for constitution amendment was not addressed.
As soon as Speaker Onasari Gharti announced commencement of the meeting, lawmakers affiliated with the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha stood up from their respective seats in a gesture of protest.
Jangilal Yadav of the Tarai-Madhes Loktantrik Party said the government had announced the date for local level elections without creating the political environment for it. Reiterating the Madhes-based parties’ stance that the local polls should not be held without amending the constitution, he asked the governing parties to pass the statute revision bill tabled in Parliament through consensus and collaboration.
Morcha MPs walked out after Yadav concluded his remarks.
