Won’t join govt in present situation: Gachhadar
Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has said his party would not join the government in the given circumstances.Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has said his party would not join the government in the given circumstances.
“Our party can join the government only after a package deal on constitution amendment with necessary revision,” Gachhadar told reporters in Biratnagar on Sunday.
Stating that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba had asked him repeatedly to join the Cabinet, Gachhadar said he was committed to his stance of endorsing the constitution amendment bill
with revision before holding the local level elections on May 14.
“I don’t mean our party will disrupt the local elections. But I believe we should not go to the polls leaving behind the Tharus, Madhesis, Muslims and Janajatis,” said the MJF-L chairman, adding that he was in favour of holding the provincial elections first.
Asked about the rumours of the MJF-L’s merger with the NC, Gachhadar said, “We can have an alliance during the local elections. There is a possibility of unification for provincial polls.”
Claiming that NC leaders feel his need to strengthen the party, Gachhadar, however, said he had no formal talks with Congress leaders on the agenda.
