Francophonie week kicks off
The Fracophonie Week 2017 kicked off in the Capital on Monday at The Alliance Française de Katmandou (AFK).The Fracophonie Week 2017 kicked off in the Capital on Monday at The Alliance Française de Katmandou (AFK). The week-long event will feature workshops on French language and culture, French food stalls, art exhibits, movie screenings, and music concerts, at the AFK’s new premises in Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
“The Francophonie Week is a major event for all the French language lovers, and a great occasion to show one’s attachment to the language of Molière by celebrating its richness and diversity,” reads a press note issued by the organisers.
The first day of the fest, on Monday, saw a Karaoke contest and a workshop, Children’s Room. On Tuesday, the fest featured the screening of the movie, The White Knights, directed by Joachim Lafosse; a spelling contest on poet Jacques Prévert’s works; and Good France, which celebrated the beauty of French food.
The fest is slated to feature cultural shows such Gypsy Jazz concert, art show, Engraving Exhibition, which features Works by Vincent Gagliardi, food events, through March 24.
