Mira goes to Rukum

The film that explores the runner’s success despite seemingly insurmountable odds drew a considerable crowd of Rukumelis.
The film was screened in Ranmamaikot of Puthauttar Ganga village, Khawang Bagar of Takasera Bhume Village and Rumakot of Sisne Village municipality.
Speaking to the Post, Rai, who was present at the screenings, said, “There are many children and women in these villages who live in the similar situation like I used to... We want to encourage these women and tell them that they are capable as anyone else, and that they can overcome any odds, to pursue their passions. And that was the motive of screening the film here.”
Rai is the winner of the National Geographic People’s Choice Adventurer of the Year 2017.
“There are many talented children and women in this village who can shine if they are provided with opportunities. This documentary can help facilitate their dreams as well as inspire them to work hard,” shared Rai. The 41-minutes long documentary, directed by Loyeda Belchar, traces Mira’s journey from her childhood in a small village in Bhojpur to her worldwide recognition today.
