A group comprising the indegenuous denizens of Dilpa in Bhojpur has launched a project—titled Dilpa Sakkhewatang’s Conservation and Preservation Plan—in a bid to preserve and promote the region’s culture and tradition. As part of the project, the committee plans to build various Sakelathan, Kirat Museum, Yalambar Park, Drinking water taps, and other community-based projects, in the region.
Moreover, the denizens of the sorrounding VDCs such as Nagi, Annapurna, and Chinamukh have also come together to continue traditions such as Kulpitri puja and other age-old traditions.
Speaking to the Post about this initiative, Lal Bahadur Rai of Nagi VDC said, “If we are unable to get the new generation to appreciate our culture and traditions, then they will soon disappear. Only proper guidance from older generation will ensure the participation of younger people. We aim to inspire both the younger and older generations to come together to preserve and promote our cultures and traditions.”
The current Parliament Development Fund has also decided to allocate a sum total of Rs 30,00,000 to the committee to help them develop the proposed infrastructure. Chairperson of the preservation committee, Dharmaraj Rai, said, “It is not possible to finish the entire project at once due to the lack of money, so we will develop it across various phases.” He added, “We are hopeful that this project will be helpful not just in promoting Kirati culture but Bhojpur as whole.”
