During a meeting with the PM Dahal on Thursday, EC officials briefed him on the preparations of the poll body for the May 14 local elections.
According to Election Commissioner Sudhir Shah, the EC raised its concerns about the delay in fixing election centres in six districts of Province 2 due to a lack of political consensus. The EC has already fixed polling centres in all other districts.
The commissioners requested PM Dahal to take initiatives to fix polling centres at the earliest, saying that work on voters’ list and their identity cards could be started only after fixing these centres.
PM Dahal though has been saying that no one can stop elections slated for May 14, there are some concerns, especially in Province 2, in view of Madhes-based parties’ announced protests and their decision to disrupt polls.
