Targeting the upcoming local elections, the ruling Nepali Congress has decided to hold mass meetings in all the seven provinces. Senior party leaders will address the rallies.

A meeting of the party’s central election mobilisation committee headed by senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel took a decision in this respect on Friday.

According to Chiranjivi Poudel, a close aide to Poudel, the campaign will be attended by all the top leaders including party president Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Initially, the party will hold consultations with sister organisations, well-wishers, business community and various organisations that can help it with the local polls, said Poudel. The meeting also decided to expand the organisation and poll-related activities at the ward and the neighbourhood levels. The party will conduct programmes in all the 744 local units.

Meanwhile, Congress President Deuba said in Biratnagar on Friday that the local level elections would be held on time as the people are eager to cast their votes and elect their representatives.
