The annual Chinese Film Festival is slated to start this week in the Capital. The film fest, organised by World Cultural Net, will see the screening of a total of eight movies over the course of a week.
Speaking to the Post about the fest, coordinator of the fest, Rajendra Rimal, said, “We have been holding this film fest since 2000, with the goal of strengthening the cultural relationship between Nepal and China. We have a long history with China in terms of trade and politics but through the centuries cultural exchanges were never really encouraged. So, the primary motive of the fest is to promote the bilateral cultural exchange and to let people know more about the Chinese society.” He added, “This time around, we are planning to screen the films in various halls around the Valley to reach to a wider audience.”
The fest will see the screening of movies such as Hua Mulan, American Dream In China, City Monkey, and The Message, among others.
The fest will be inaugurated amid a ceremony to be held at Russian Cultural Centre on April 7 which will be followed by the screening of the movie Hua Mulan.
