German minister in town on 4-day visit

Barbara Hendricks, German Federal Minister for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety is currently in the Capital on a four-day official visit. She landed here on Sunday night.
The objective of her visit is to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between Nepal and Germany, and to take stock of the progress made in ongoing environment and forestry projects in Nepal under German support, the German Embassy said in a statement on Monday.
Minister Hendricks is scheduled to hold talks with Minister for Environment Jayadev Joshi and Minister for Forests Shankar Bhandari.
She will travel to Godavari in Lalitpur to observe management and operation of Godavari Knowledge Park, a bio-diversity conservation project of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development. She will visit Kalchebesi Resilient Mountain Village in Patlekhet VDC of Kavre district. The Kalchebesi project highlights how Nepali communities could tackle the challenges of climate change, developing skills of local people.
