The national defence force would not stay without action should any unwanted activities against the nation take place, said Gen Chhetri while addressing the concluding programme of the gathering of ex-armies from mid-western development region on Saturday.
Blood and sweat given by the Army has kept the sovereignty and integrity of the country intact and it is ready for similar contribution even in the future, he added.
The national defence force has been organising the gathering of ex-military personnel every year in five development regions.
“The faith the people have in the Army is its strength,” he said. During the programme, he also distributed loans to the families of Army officials under a micro-financing scheme jointly conducted by the Welfare Board of the Army and Nepal Investment Bank.
He also announced to construct girls hostels in schools run by the Army in Chitwan, Dhangadhi, Surkhet and Pokhara and start higher secondary schooling there.
Gen Chhetri also unveiled a programme to start a field hospital of the Army
starting in Nepalgunj and announced the establishment of family OPD targeting the family members of retired army officials in the Chhauni-based Birendra Army Hospital.
