EC begins training election officers across country

The Election Commission has assigned district judges as chief election officers and under-secretaries of judicial and administrative sectors and government attorneys as election officers.
The two-day training started in Biratnagar, Sindhuli, Dhulikhel, Pokhara, Hetauda, Surkhet and Dhangadi for 75 chief election officers and 669 election officers, according to the EC.
The chief election officers and election officers would impart the same training to 42,000 people, including polling officers and assistant polling officers, after the completion of their training.
Local level elections will be held at four metropolitan cities, 13 sub-metropolitan cities, 246 municipalities and 481 rural municipalities across the country in the single phase on May 14.
Inaugurating the training in Dhulikhel on Monday, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav said the election fever has gripped the country now.
‘Polls in single phase’
DHANGADI/ SURKHET: Election commissioners on Monday said that the local level elections will be held in single phase. Speaking during the inaugural session of election management and operation regional training for trainers in Dhangadi, Election Commissioner Ila Sharma said that elections would be held in single phase in a free and fair manner.
Chief election officers and officers from Doti, Achham, Darchula, Dadeldhura, Bajura and Bardiya districts are attending the two-day training. Similarly, speaking at the inaugural session of a similar training in Surkhet, Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah also said that the elections would be held in a single phase. (RSS)
