This was the first meeting of the mechanism after Ambassador Puri assumed office last month.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting made a comprehensive review of the progress made in economic and development cooperation projects between Nepal and India, in particular since the second meeting held on January 30.
The two sides covered specific issues relating to cross-border rail projects, integrated check posts, cross-border transmission lines, Arun III and Upper Karnali Hydropower projects, Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project, postal roads, projects under lines of credit and reconstruction projects, among others.
Since the start of the meeting of the oversight mechanism, projects funded by India are gathering momentum with both sides calling on executing agencies to expedite the process, said Nepali officials.
Shortcomings like coordinating between the line agencies and actions to be taken by the concerned agencies were said to be delaying the projects and these issues are being addressed now, they added.
