In the last few years Nepal has seen a rise in the number of small scale Nepali entrepreneurs whose businesses specialise in designer and artisan goods that are ‘made in Nepal’. Most of these entrepreneurs only have an online presence and a small fraction have an outlet in one corner of the city. If the customers wish to check out their goods physically, they would have to make their way to the up and coming art markets, art melas and pop-up bazaars spread across the city. But, there is only so much these platforms can do for the entrepreneurs.

Tapping into the opportunity, a shop that sells carefully curated and unique selection of Made-in-Nepal products is throwing open its doors to customers this weekend. Located in Jhamsikhel, Timro Concept Store is dedicated to selling goods ranging from apparel and accessories to stationery and games, designed by niche artisans and entrepreneurs in the Valley. The concept store also features a tiny café inside that serves a variety of Nepali tea, coffee and homemade snacks. Timro concept store’s display mixes handpicked products from Muskan, Hatti Hatti, Bhav, Resa Living, Tissah and Allare together in an attractive fashion. These brands specialise in different goods but what ties them together is how they evoke an aesthetic lifestyle that appeals to a niche audience.

“Timro concept store is a place where Nepali products and those who are passionate for it come together. Our shop in shop concept gives young designers and Nepalese brands the chance to display and sell their products in a mini warehouse setting,” says the co-founder Yogen Tamrakar.

Timro is slated to open on Saturday and is located near the Big Mart in Jhamsikhel.
