Now to bring awareness of the issue among school students, the National Park and Wildlife Conservation Department is currently holding a week-long awareness programme promoting wildlife preservation.
As a part of this programme, a painting competition, themed Youth’s Involvement for the Preservation and Prosperity of Wildlife, was held at Maitighar Mandala on Sunday. 104 students from 42 different schools competed in the event.
Kriti Karmachary of Triyog Higher Secondary School won the competition, followed by Samriddhi Rai of Global Pathsala and Bimala Tamang of Himsrinkhala Academy in the second and third positions respectively.
Speaking about the event, coordinator Devi Ghimire said, “It is of utmost importance to aware children about environment preservation and what better medium to do so than art?” He added, “Human beings play an important role in environment and wildlife preservation. Through this event, we want to reach out to as many people as possible.”
A felicitation programme for the winners of the competition is slated take place alongside an art exhibition in the Capital on April 29.
