Student unions want pvt school fees regulated

Unions claim that private educational institutions have increased fees by up to 200 percent from this session

Eight student unions have demanded that the government act to make private schools withdraw their decision of hiking fee.

During a meeting with Minister for Education Dhaniram Poudel on Tuesday, representatives of the eight student unions drew his attention to private schools’ arbitrary decision of hiking fee.

The new school session started on Sunday. 

Minister Poudel expressed his seriousness about the issue and assured that he would take initiatives to address the concerns, Rashmi Acharya, a member of the delegation and acting chairperson of the All Nepal National Free Students Union, said. 

Student leaders of Nepal Student Union and All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revo-lutionary) were also part of the delegation. 

The student unions have claimed that private educational institutions have increased fee by up to 200 percent beginning this academic session.
